Dumortierite

Dumortierite is a natural blue gemstone that usually forms as inclusions in Quartz. These are known in the gemstone market as "Dumortierite Quartz". Formed in an environment that is high in temperature, aluminum-rich regional metamorphic rocks, in boron-rich granite pegmatites, and in hydrothermal replacement deposits. Its most common color is blue or grayish-blue, though pink and purple colors are also known. Dumortierite's durability, combined with a high hardness, makes this an ideal gemstone. Hardness: 7. Composition: Aluminum borosilicate
